We want to give you the good stuff only. Refurbished servers and components we auction here are of Quality, with the big Q. We are powered by iuppiter BV, a company with 15+ years of expertise in sourcing, testing, and refurbishing servers and server components. This expertise comes fully into Auction IT, to ensure that the products you get match their description perfectly.
Before an item gets listed, it goes through an extensive testing process. If you can see the listing, it means the product was tested and fulfills our standards. Which further means: it’s ready to get into your system and do its work.
Here’s a behind-the-scenes look at how we test, so that you can get the gist.
Tested, approved, trusted
We first put the components into a testing server. We do the full game, you know, cables in a port, RAMs and CPUs in their little slots, with a configuration that depends on the things we need to test. Then we plug the server into the test computer to check health and power, prevent failure and maintain uptime.
With specialized programs, we check the components - CPU, drives, memory, controllers, network ports, power supplies, fans - under sustained load. We run long tests & error scans, and monitor thermal and PSU health. Afterwards, we produce extensive reports that review the health of each component. If they pass, they are marked green. If they don’t, it’s in purple.
(Actually in red, of course. Are you still paying attention?)
Wear, tear, and beauty
We take pictures of every item we sell, in our fixed way (set of angles, lighting, that kind of stuff). Some products will look more ‘experienced’ than others in terms of scratches or rack marks - that’s normal for hardware that got pulled out of a data center. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder: regular wear is not a defect but we don’t hide it, either. Check the photos, what you see is what you get.
If we find any broken, non-working, missing, or bent part, we write it transparently in the product description, whether it’s visible in the photos or not. If something in the photos just doesn’t sit right with you, ask us before you bid.
Every now and then, we offer new stock. The listing will describe it as such and will state whether the product is factory-sealed or new in an open box. If the description doesn’t explicitly say “new”, well, it isn’t.
Spa treatment for hard drives
Hard drives get a separate treatment. We put a lot of care into wiping out their content professionally to the NIST SP 800-88 standard on ADISA Product Assurance certified equipment. We have an erasure record for every drive.
We often sell lots of drives, or in the lingo: a drive lot. It can contain one drive or several hundred of them. Every drive in the lot has the same model, capacity, interface, and the health grade. We state that in the listing and get it from our test results, see below. The photos show the units from the said lot, but individual labels, date codes, or firmware stickers may vary per drive.
Every hard drive and SSD gets fully tested once it enters our warehouse. We do a full cycle on our test platform: a complete surface scan of every sector, certified data erasure, and a read-back verification. The whole run takes up to a day for every single drive.
SMART data predicts drive life based on: defective sectors, whether the defects appeared during our testing, hours of use, and NAND wear for SSDs. Out of this data comes the health score (0-100%) that becomes our grade.
Here’s how the grade works:
• Grade A (100%) - No defects, barely used. Used doesn’t get any closer to new than this.
• Grade B (90–99%) - Passes a full surface scan clean. The used stock is solid: it has at most a few reallocated sectors or just a long, long service history.
• Grade C (80–89%) - Working, but with visible aging: some sectors reallocated during our testing, or there’s moderate SSD wear.
• Grade D (70–79%) - Working but worn. More reallocated sectors or heavier wear. Priced accordingly.
• Grade E (40–69%) - End of the line. Runs and passed our tests, but old or heavily worn. For scratch arrays, testing, tinkering - not for data you love.
• Grade F (below 40%) - Failing media. We don't even buy these, ew, so F-grade hard drives don't enter our warehouse.
We keep a strict grade. We grade on behaviour under a full-surface workload, not on a snapshot. And we consider a drive that’s actively deteriorating the real trouble, not the one with a few old reallocations. If a drive developed new defects on our test bench, it drops hard, no matter if its history looks good on paper. Not on our paper, not on our watch.
That’s why our grading can differ from what a simple SMART tool tells you. Plus, health reporting isn’t fully standardized, especially for SSDs, so another tool may show a different health percentage than our grade. The grade we present reflects the drive’s condition on our test equipment, under full load, at the moment of testing.
But you don’t need to take our word for it. We present the numbers behind every drive lot: power-on hours, reallocated sector count, and SSD wear level.
Warranty
As a rule of thumb, we don't offer a commercial warranty. Some items will have it, though, so check the product description. If it mentions the warranty, it's there. If it doesn't, it's not.
Besides the warranty, you have a 14-day cooling off period - if you change your mind within that time, you can return the item, no questions asked. See how to do that here.
What the customers say
Our methods work pretty decent - in January 2026, the rate for RMA across all our sales channels stood at 5.5%. And even though, when it comes to RMA, the customers are writing about rather unpleasant stuff, they still appreciate the professional support that our customer service offers. As of September 2026, our eBay rating shows 99.6% satisfied customers, with “all according to description” and “no surprises” as a common compliment. Other praises we get are for delivery time (5*) and communication (4.9*) and yeah, we’ll take it all.
In short: we’ll auction refurbished servers and server components here, daily, and we’re serious about this stuff. You can expect high quality for a good price, interesting products, we’ll throw in some good customer service, too.
