Our commitment to compliance and verification
We follow European consumer protection guidelines and regulations on auction sales.
Let’s talk money - What you pay for when you enter the auction
-
Hammer prices - the actual bids
The key characteristic of an auction is that it’s created by your bid, right. No human interferes in price determination, it’s settled dynamically and automatically. The bids are visible but we keep bidder names private.
Our standard starting price is 1 euro. We don’t add any reserve (minimum) price, so the highest valid bid wins. The end times are stated clearly on the website.
For fairness and mild adrenaline, we use popcorn bidding. That means if someone bids in the final moments, the timer automatically extends by one minute. Bids are legally binding and you cannot retract them. Don’t enter the auction if you have commitment issues.
The highest bid when the auction ends is called the hammer price. That’s the price you have to pay for the item. There’s no cost for anyone who hasn’t won an auction, we don’t have commissions.
-
Total costs
If you hammered that auction and won as the highest bidder, you can immediately see the total costs in your shopping cart. Besides the hammer price, we add VAT (based on your delivery country - see more info below) and shipping costs. The latter will depend on delivery country, weight and dimensions, and the shipping method you chose. We work with a mandatory Track & Trace system and provide all the necessary export docs, if needed.
-
Invoice and payment
Within 24 hours of the auction ending, we’ll send you payment details with all the costs (hammer price, VAT, shipping costs, total due amount). You have 7 days to pay it and you can do it via a bank transfer or a credit card, with a secure payment getaway system. We don’t accept cash payments. After you pay, you will receive an official invoice.
-
VAT
We use a special system for VAT management, called the One-Stop Shop (OSS). The VAT rates will vary depending on whether you’re an individual or business consumer, and whether you’re from the EU or outside.
For individual consumers
The hammer prices are excluding VAT. We calculate your VAT rate based on your delivery country, the type of item you bought, and applicable EU regulations. The standard rates per country vary between 17% and 27%. Some items may have reduced rates.
We currently only sell to customers based in the EU.
The OSS system ensures that we calculate your rate correctly, and then we state it clearly on your invoice.
If you bid and win outside your home country, the VAT is charged at the rate of the country you’re based in. We handle shipping according to EU regulations.
For business customers
If you’re buying for business purposes, you may be eligible for a reverse VAT charge. To get that, you need to place your bid with a business account. There, you need to provide your EU VAT number, which we will verify in real time. If all info is correct, your invoice will show 0% VAT and will clearly state “Reverse Charge”. You’ll have to report it to your tax authority yourself.
If you bid and win outside your country, the reverse charge applies if your VAT number is valid. We maintain the professional invoicing standards, the only difference is that intra-community supply rules may apply.
Fair warning: Providing us with a false VAT number will result in legal consequences and, even worse, account cancellation.
Your rights as a consumer
-
Customer service
If you have questions about prices, products, anything else, reach out to us via email support-auctionIT@iuppiter.nl or phone: +31 (0)10 80 81 052. We pick up the phone between 9am and 5pm on weekdays, and respond within 48 (business) hours.
No question is too small! Hit us up, we want you to understand what you’re buying.
-
Right of withdrawal (cooling-off period)
You have the right to return the item within 14 days of delivery, no questions asked.
To do that, you need to send an email to support-auctionIT@iuppiter.nl, clearly stating you want to withdraw your purchase. And within those 14 days.
You have to return the item in its original condition. The shipping costs of the return are on you. We will send you back the hammer price and VAT, and the shipping costs of the first shipment (unless you only returned a part of your order).
We cannot accept returns of items that were inseparably mixed with other stuff, unsealed products for which the original seal was broken, and those that got devalued because of your handling.
For more detailed information, check the Returns Policy page.
-
Good description of the auction items (conformity)
It’s on us to describe items as accurately and completely as it gets. We fully test and inspect each item, take professional photographs from all angles, mention all known defects and deviations, and provide you with tech descriptions and specifications. See more information on product descriptions here.
We don’t attribute any non-existent properties or create fake hype. That means we don’t play with artificial urgency, price inflation or scarcity, we don’t put false reviews or bids, and we don’t do unclear descriptions or misleading photographs.
That’s our standard but hey, we’re also human. If you buy something and then discover it doesn’t match its description, here’s what you can request:
-
Repair or replacement
-
Price reduction
-
Return & full refund
You have 14 days after you’ve received your item to do this if you’re a business, and two months if you’re an individual consumer.
-
Warranty
As a rule of thumb, we don't offer a commercial warranty on drives. Some items will have it, though, so check the product description. If it mentions the warranty, it's there. If it doesn't, it's not.
-
Complaints
If you want to complain about something, you can do it via email to support-auctionIT@iuppiter.nl. As with non-conformity claims, you have 14 days after you’ve received your item if you’re a business, and two months if you’re an individual consumer.
We will get back to you within 7 days after receiving your complaint and will try to resolve it within 14 days, where possible.
We handle the following complaints:
-
Non-conformity: the item doesn’t match its description (see above)
-
Damage during shipping: self-explanatory but very sad
-
Not received: the item never arrived, which is why we always have the Track & Trace
-
Invoice errors: amount or VAT was wrongly calculated on the invoice.
-
Dispute Resolution
If our complaint handling makes you want to complain more, you can ask us to review the complaint, reach out to your national consumer authority or, yes, you can also do that, start legal proceedings under Dutch law.
Extra info for business customers (B2B)
You’re eligible for business treatment if you’re a registered business entity in an EU member state; have a valid, active VAT number; and are buying for business purposes.
If we can verify your EU VAT number, you’re eligible for a reverse VAT charge. To get that, you need to place your bid with a business account. After winning, you need to provide your EU VAT number, which we will verify in real time. If all info is correct and you have a business address in the EU, your invoice will show 0% VAT and will clearly state “Reverse Charge”. You’ll have to report it to your tax authority yourself.
Fair warning: Providing us with a false VAT number will result in legal consequences and, even worse, account cancellation. We’re obliged to verify VAT numbers and report non-compliance to tax authorities.
Your business invoice should include:
-
Your complete company name and address
-
Your VAT number
-
Our VAT number
-
Complete item descriptions
-
VAT treatment explanation (reverse charge notation)
-
Invoice date and number
-
Payment terms.
We offer special services to registered businesses, such as access to bulk auctions, dedicated business account management (we get quite some compliments for this), customized reporting, and special pricing.

Our commitment to compliance and verification
We comply with the following systems and requirements:
-
VIES System: We verify VAT numbers in real time
-
OSS Regulations: See more details below.
The One-Stop Shop system is an EU-wide system to ensure VAT compliance for cross-border shopping. When you win an auction, we automatically apply the correct VAT rate for your delivery country.
The benefits for you are that you see the final price including the correct VAT in the shopping cart, so you get no surprises at checkout. We handle all VAT reporting to the right tax authorities, EU and national. Your invoice has the right VAT details. You can verify our OSS registration with your national tax authority if you don’t want to take our word for it.
-
National VAT Laws: We ensure compliance with regulations in all EU member states where we sell
-
Documentation Requirements: We maintain proper records for 10 years
